The two predators stalked towards the lone hiker. He watched them with wild eyes, sensing the immediate danger. Behind the two vampires was a thir. She watched sadly. The hiker was a good man. He didn't desrve to die. Henrietta's hands curled into delicate fists. Her family had to eat. This isn't my family. she thought with sadness. No, she couldn't let them kill this innocent man. Charging forward, Henrietta leapt over the two and landed before the human. "I cannot allow you to kill him." Henrietta said, her voice sharp. "He is a good man." Behind her, the hiker started inching backwards. The two male vampires glared at her. They crouched, aiming to attack her.
"Step aside, Henrietta. You're letting our food get away." She didn't budge. Deep growls tore from her once families throat. Crouching, she returned a growl in kind, baring her teeth. The two inched closer yet, ready to pounce. Acting quickly, Henrietta stared into the covan leaders eyes. He tried to look away, but too late, she already had him. Leave him alone. she commanded, impressing upon him her thoughts. Tell George to step back. The one she had hynoptized looked at George.
"Stop. We'll find another place to hunt." he said, his voice sounding odd. George looked at him, sensing the difference. He looked at Henrietta, but did not realize she was doing this.
"Fine. But we had better find something else quick, Fredrick. If we could die, I'd be dead from starvation!" Fredrick nodded and looked back to Henrietta.
"You are no longer welcome in this covan. You must fend for yourself." With that, he and George departed, vanishing in the woods. Henrietta straightened and let out a sad sigh. Another break. Again alone.
